Edward is more than a thousand years old; he is what we would call an “immortal.” He has been around on this land since the days of the Crusades, in which he also took part, witnessed the most important historical events of the last millennium, and met the greatest personalities. He has been an enthusiast, a dreamer, a scholar, a fighter. Throughout his very long existence he wanted to put his skills at the service of humanity, but he was always disappointed, until he gave up several decades ago. That is why we find him in the present day tired, drowning his boredom in alcohol, vices, sex. Edward is fed up with everything and everyone, he is a depressed man to the nth degree: a secular depressed man.
